I used to love compilation albums and box sets when I was a kid, and I certainly remember all those cool time life commercials that made you want everything. Well, now time life has come out with Pop Memories of the 60s which is a collection of the best songs of the decade.
I suppose the idea to try and recreate a feeling of the 60s and rewrite the history of events to a backdrop of music. The list of songs is amazing so if you are a music collector this may be for you.
A noted musician of this era once said, “If you can remember anything about the sixties, then you weren’t really there.” It is a catchy quote, and, indeed, there were drug and other behavior excesses in those days. But most of the generation that was “feeling its oats” went on to become school superintendents, bankers, and politicians. What they all share, and what is a treasure to succeeding decades, are such hits as Bobby Vinton’s “Blue Velvet,” Louis Armstrong’s “Hello Dolly,” the dynamite Ray Charles rendition of “I Can’t Stop Loving You.” You’ll want this collection for your very own so you can play any of these 160 songs whenever you want
